tuna salad

This is one of my all time favorite salads, a quick meal for me at least twice a week especially during hectic months like this past one ’cause it’s so easy. If there ever was a salad that is quintessentially South East Asian, this one is it. Incorporating the most key ingredients from the region; fresh limes, chilis, fragrant kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass and shallots, so quick and easy and good for you too.

Thai Tuna Salad

1 can of tuna packed in olive oil, (oil drained)

3-4 Thai bird’s eye chilis, finely sliced

4 kaffir lime leaves, finely sliced (chiffonade)

2 shallots, sliced thin

1 lemongrass stalk, finely sliced

1 Tbsp fish sauce

juice of 3/4 -1 whole lime

Mix all the ingredients together, serve the tuna with fresh lettuce leaves, using them as wraps for a spoonful of tuna salad.
